Carte Blanch Wrap Party

Well it feels good to say that another local feature is finally in the can, Carte Blanche. This films crew had its wrap party just last Saturday at one of the houses in Bakersfield were most of the film takes place. It was a fun experince watching some of the outtakes and slides. Matt Kieley directed this film and wrote the bad boy. I also got the chance to play a small role in the film. And got to boom some of the film.

The film stars Coryn Mcbride who I also had a chance to work with in the movie Who Hit Me. Coryn also acts and directs in local theatre. If you get a chance stop by the Melodrama here in Bakersfield and check her out. Carte Blanche is in the final stages of editing. When I asked Matt when the film was going to be finished he kindly punched me in my nutsack. All joking aside this films release has still not been determind, but Matt did say before he punched me that it will be soon. So keep checking back, I'll keep you posted. Dead Things local horror movie

Horror fans the wait is almost up. As we work nights on end to bring you a horror movie that is promising. This film by DT Carney was filmed locally and includes big names like Fellisa Rose and Brinke Stevens. The movie has three stories about a small town. The movie includes witches, a killer and every ones favorite ZOMBIES! The film was shot a few years ago and landed in our lap the middle of last year. Although we didn't even know DT when the movie was actually shot we have jumped aboard and try to combine our talent with this project. Here is a teaser trailer of the film.

Carte Blanche a Film by Matt Kieley

Any film makers wishing they could finish shooting their feature? Well Matt Kieley did and from the teaser trailers (at the bottom of the blog) it really looks like a good film. I worked with Matt a little bit in this film for a few sexual favors... (Just kidding). In an interview I had with Matt just after we finished up a scene he seemed a little less stressed and more sure of his project then ever. He even took his shirt off during the interview! (Not kidding that time) The video interview with Matt and some of the cast should be up soon.

OK, I know you wanna know what the movie is about, right? Well sucks for you cause I'm not telling. But Matt's myspace for Carte Blanche will:

Carte Blanche is the first feature film by Writer/Director Matt Kieley, starring Coryn McBride. With Brandon Nebitt, Chris DeBondt, Rickey Bird, Katie Metz and Julie Jordan Scott. Synopsis: After being dumped by her boyfriend, Helena finds herself desperately trying to connect to new people, as she struggles between getting over her ex, and winning him back. Now I know what your thinking. Why would I want to see this movie? We'll because I said to see it and you do whatever I say! No but if you have ever filmed or tried to film any type of video, from an Internet short to a full length feature. You need to check this out. This movie was done with very little cash flow and still seems to pack a pretty big bang. And I'm not saying that because I helped out on the project. I'm just saying from what I've seen, it is shot very well. The completion of this project should motivate other filmmakers to finish there projects. Remember you can do it! Don't give up! Even if your parents aren't rich and can't buy you all kinds of expensive equipment... Film with whatever you have!! Back to Carte Blanche. Here are some of the trailers from the movie.

PARADISE NOW- SHORT FILM REVIEW

5 Stars!!!

I watched a film the other night that I think was great. I went over to my buddy Aaron's to watch his latest foreign film he picked up from work. I would have to give this film a pretty high rating (hell I gave the thing 5 stars). Watching this film really opened my mind on the whole terrorist life and this film really painted a new picture of my whole out look on sucide bombers. Paradise Now follows Palestinian childhood friends Said and Khaled who live in Nablus and have been recruited for suicide attacks in Tel Aviv. It focuses on what would be their last days together.

The film is very beautiful, the shots are amazing and the whole story really sucks you in. Could you image people you trusted telling you that you would have to die for something but you weren't able to tell your family? One line that stood out in the movie for me was when one of the men asked, "what will happen after the explosion?". The man answers, "Two angels will come for you." Wow that is some crazy stuff. He goes on to tell them that they will be heroes?! All I can say that if you haven't seen this movie you really need too. Remember though this movie is all in subtitles so.... That may be a downer for some. Anyway check it out.

New Rambo Movie

With all the sequels and remakes coming out I really didn't think there was any movies left to make sequels to. Then a friend at work told me that they were making a new RAMBO movie. I could believe that Sylvester Stallone was physical able to act in the whole movie. I mean he is pretty old. But hey he is still in the game remaking his old movies. Rumor has it that Sylvester Stallone is even directing it. Crazy. Any who check out this trailer it was really a pain in the but to find. Warning it is a little graphic.

Synopsis
John Rambo a Vietnam War veteran has had his fare share of ordeals and has now withdrawn to a simple life in Bangkok. As usual trouble have a way of finding Rambo and this time it's a group of human rights missionaries who wants to rent his boat to travel up the river to Burma. Burma have for the last fifty years been like a war zone, the farmers have struggled to stay alive from the brutally oppressive Burmese military. After some consideration Rambo accepts the offer and takes the missionaries up the river, as soon as the missionaries' arrive in Burma they are attacked by the military. Some of the villagers and missionaries are tortured and viciously murdered while the rest are held as captives. The news soon reaches Rambo who embarks on a rescue effort with five young mercenaries at his disposal.

When I first heard the name Stupid Kid Productions (SKP) I was thought that we had another GAG Films on our hands (Which by the way GAG Films has some hilarious new shorts you should check out). But when I started watching their films on-line; I would have to say, I was pretty impressed. They have a unique darker style that is starting to get more creditability. They just started shooting a short that they are actually getting paid for… Awesome! I don't want to leak out too much info but here are some pictures of their newest short.

The guys from SKP are defiantly going places.
I would recommend their latest THE KILL 8 (Video Below).

Hey Film Makers and people who just like watching movies. I just wanted to see how everyone was doing.. We have been wondering where all the local film makers have been hiding... Well we went to BIFF and I would have to say that there wasn't as many people as we would have hoped, but there we still people there. We or maybe I should say I was hoping that there would be more new film makers "pushing" their films. Oh well. I stayed up all night asking the question to myself over and over again.. Why I am doing this? You know I don't know. Then I pop in a movie and get that feeling. The feeling like you are trapped in a character hoping he makes it or gets out of there alive. That's the reason. Who cares if we never make it very big or only hand full of people see our stuff! That doesn't matter. What matters is looking back their is no time wasted only time spent getting better at the things we suck at. I just hope to see more local projects at BIFF next year. And film makers... If you need help with your film then hook up with the film maker forum and ask questions. Anywhere you can add a question or help out someone who needs help. We should all stick together and make some crazy stuff for BIFF next year! OK I feel a little better now. And I would just like to say thanks to the people that did show up and supported local film makers. I know that for the film makers that were there it means a lot for people to view their films on a big screen and to here clapping at the end. Thanks for watching!

Finishing up the Lords Video

For all those who haven't seen lords check it out! We spent a lot of time on it in Vegas and are currently working on the extended addition... Which may take a little while to finish, but it will be cool.. The hardest part was editing in this one.. it took a lot of hours out of our lives.. We stayed up in Vegas working on the dang thing until the sun came up.. It was kinda easy to do because the city never sleeps.. And neither did we.. Anyway we had fun in Vegas! We party mostly in our room as you can see in Hectic Films Behind the Scenes 5. You can see in the background we are still going strong for the contest... We also threw in a advertisement for BIFF! Which will be coming soon to Bakersfield.... So hurry up! In the meantime check out the video below and add it to your profile and spread the word.. thanks for watching!

Filming Lords: the last few days

Well we just got mixed up in what has to be one of the most stressful weeks we have had at hectic films. We have been filming like crazy for our TV show/documentary that hopefully will take us to the next step in movie making.. We are going to show a trailer made buy us at the SEMA show in Vegas.. Millions will see the trailer we made for our documentary... Did I mention that the trailer is not finished and that we are leaving at three a clock in the morning this Saturday?! Oh and By the way we still have finished LORDS! Ok, ok I am just stressing myself out more writing this and not working on it so I will try to keep this short.

First off to all the people that our upset with us about not posting new videos... We are very sorry we have just been extremely tied up with our documentary, our lords project and life. The biggest problem is that Jason and I decided to go big on our lords video and our trailer.. And yes a stupid idea it was. Thank god we are making a little bit a progress everyday, but sometimes it just seems like it isn't enough. Anyway if we don't get this in to at the contest deadline we will still post the video on our site. Hopefully we will and we will win the money and the respect.. Or we will look like a packages of retards... Either way we will still have a really cool piece.

So for know I just want to say that we will have at least 3 new videos next month. Hopefully badge 2 and Loose Feathers: The true story of Soda. We will definitely have some more fly on the wall episodes for your viewing pleasure.. Oh yeah we will also have a hectic films behind the scenes in Vegas and we will also have some new zowietowns about the condors. Stay tuned!

Noveltown and Hectic Films!

Well Noveltown and Hectic Films went down to the Condors Game last night. Nick got drunk and punched one of the ice dogs in the face while I was filming the whole time. Nick then pulled some moves that not even Chuck Norris himself could do. I knew Nick was tough but they must have put some steroids in the jalapenos! Anyway my buddy Nick choked out another Ice Dog with a pretzel and then slapped him with a corn dog right in the face. The corn slap was so powerful that it got caught on the side of the dudes face. Not a Problem for N.L. / Chuck Norris! Two round house kicks to the face and it was all over. Ever since last night I have devoted my life to carry Nick around on my back to make sure that he doesn't try and kill me. Hopefully he will only use his powers for good..

OK that was all just a lie besides the "We went to the Condors Game last night" part of it. That was all true. I actually went to Nick's house and paid him 5 bucks to jump on my back and gave his son 10 bucks to take a picture. Just don't tell Nick I told you that. It was kinda awkward saying hey Landon, you dads going to jump on my back and I want you to email it to me to put on the Internet. Here is ten dollars.... All I had left in my wallet was twenty bucks and I needed the last 5 bucks to buy a soda and a ring pop. Anyway back to the game that Nick didn't get wasted at (only jacked up of Pepsi and french fries) and didn't corn slap anyone. The Condors played a great game and really wiped the floor with the Ice Dogs. We can only hope that they go through the whole season kicking buts and taking names! Filming was fun until some crazy four foot old lady almost broke my camera in half. I think the funniest thing was the fact that I had a loaded gun in my backpack and walked around the whole arena (just a joke the security there gave me a cavity search). Oh yeah and I made NL miss his picture perfect fight. Please don't bring that up or I might Really get Corn Slapped! We will be filming a lot of the condors games and doing a lot of videos for Zowietowns. So stay tuned to see the Condors Hectic Films style..

SKIP and SODA!

We have just got our drawing of SODA! Yeah thats right the peguin that everyone loves soo much soda. I told a friend 'hey we are making a puppet of SODA' and he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about.. So I pistol whipped him right in the face.. No not really, but it did make me realize that I should say something to everyone. SODA is the Peguin that explodes at the begining of some of our intros. Now how cool is a peguin exploding? I don't know.. Cooler than watching someone you know explode? Maybe.. Anyway back to what I was explain about soda. This little guy just got drawn up by the professionals or professional. Debra gave us the drawing of what the peguin is going to look like. So here it is.. What do you think?

He is kinda slower than most peguins, but he still loves candy! We should have more stuff with this awesome guy soon... We are even going to start doing videos about his life and how much he loves candy. And even explain how he exploded while he was flying! And yes I know that peguins don't fly, but come on its funny!?

Skip is a whole other story. We decided to put it out there earlier than the set date of HALLOWEEN. Just because we havn't had a lot of time to film anything. Heck I just got off of work right now (who really cares Rickey?) So my wife got really scared and would watch the SKIP video because she's weak. We think that is just awesome good fun. And we hope that it scares the crap out of you. We were hoping it would. Whats funny is that bathroom is the same bathroom we used in fly on the wall one. Its amazing how much peeing on the walls makes a bathroom look totally different. Check out the video if you haven't already and hopefully you have.

Hectic Films goes to the FAIR

Hectic Films goes to the fair....Crazy huh? Yeah we thought so too. The bastards at the door wouldn't let us bring in our cameras so we decided to take some pictures instead... White man is always bring the non-budget film maker down! Anyway we started our adventure through the mullet woods and into the forrest of cracked out carnys (probably one of the coolest place we could have filmed (but the white man brought us down) So anyway we kept on trucking over to the rides...

After two crappy rides we left in search of something really cool to do. Like mountian climbing or dart throwing. Something wit a lot of fun and action, but we really couldn't find any thing really exciting some we looked at some carnys and..

played some quick games to win the carnys most prized treasure....... Ok we show you this you can't tell anyone how cool it is or who told you about it... We don't need carny magic to come back to us and maybe kill Jason.

Carny sauce is the most prized treasure to the carnys. I mean how do they give away all those paper framed emiem pictures without shedding one tear?! CARNY SAUCE.. They also believe that carny sauce is what starbucks uses in their coffee. Who wants carny sauce?! Who?! Carny sauce will give you the strength of 10 full grown carnys or at least enough energy to slap a ride together with your bare hands, run the ride and smoke a roll your own cigarette all at the same time!

Anyway, back to our adventure.....

We got lost in all the fun and starting having bubble adventures. See that big guy on the ground directing the bubble? Thats Darren. He loves bubbles. He usally does these "bubble stunts" (as he likes to call them) naked, but for the purpose of this blog and our website he put on a t-shirt. Lets just say we tried to keep the camera shots high. Anyway after Jason's head almost exploded from the pressure inside the bubble I decided to give this interesting extreme hobby a try....
So then our free ballin' friend decided to pull a bubble around my head. Let me tell you there is nothing like it... Its hard to describe and really hard for you to really understand unless you've been there.. Kinda like war. But I guess I am going to do my best to describe it.... Um.. Its kinda like have a bubble over your head?? Ok just go down to the fair and kick the little kids away and give it a shot. If you can't go to the fair to try it then maybe get some dishsoap and a hula hoop. Well before we left Jason (being the caring guy that he is) decide to donate some of his "man wig" (as we like to call it) to charity. I guess their is some bald animal fund. Here is a picture of Jason standing next to his man wig.

Well that is our story about the fair. We are hoping to try and get a real camera in to the fair and film a HF behind the scenes, but it looks like our camera isn't going to get past the guards so maybe you can print out these pictures and make a flip book out of them...

SODA Puppet

We just handed off the felt for the soda puppet to be made. Don't know who SODA is??? He is the mascot for Hectic Films man! He is the penguin exploding at the begining of some of our videos. We are bringing him back and with a little feeling... We started to make a cartoon of the guy, but it just wasn't working.. So we decided to make things more exciting and throw this penguin in a few shorts. You may have played some of the games with his face or even remember some of the first intros to hecticfilms.com .

Debra is the maker of the puppet. (click here to check out her website) and is also helping us with the final project. Hopefully we will have the puppet completed before the film fest. We want to do a story about the life of SODA.. Anyway.. We should have some footage with our new friend soon to come, but as soon as the puppet is completed we will post some pictures on our Film Maker Forum. So keep on the look out for the crazy exploding puppet SODA..

Filming the Lords Day One

Well with all this "planing to film" stuff you would think we are somewhat close to getting done with our lords project........ Well your wrong.. We just started filming the project on saturday... Without the lights we order or the mic we ordered! But we did get to test our new greenscreen that we made... AWESOME... I don't care what anyone says.. Greenscreening is my favorite thing to do! Anyway back to lords.. So my brother Tate and I set up shop at a house way out past the airport. It took us a while to set up, but once we did the actors starting getting a little crazy... I don't want to go to far into to it, but lets just say that I had to turn my head because I started getting freaked out. Lets just say that Jim knows what he's doing..

I think the hardest thing about this project is the fact that we are trying totally new ideas with our no-budget film project.. I don't want to reveal all the secrets, but let me tell you that this film is going to turn a few heads.. We are trying our best to make the people watching it say 'how did they do that?

Oh and I brought my camera (to take behind the Scenes Photos) and we will try to throw some pictures on our film maker forum.. The link is to the left on the top of our home page..
